Terms

The rules for using Crewside: who may join, how verification works, what we expect of each other in a city room, and how to leave.

Who runs Crewside

Crewside is operated by ALPHA Counsel and Coaching UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Berlin, Germany. Company details are in the Impressum. What we do with your data is a separate page: Privacy.

What Crewside is

Crewside puts verified airline crew who are on a layover in the same city, in the same window, into a shared chat room for those dates. That is the whole product. It is not a networking tool and it is not a dating app. There are no followers, no swiping, and no public profiles.

Who can use it

Working airline crew, cabin and flight deck. To get in you upload a photo of your airline work ID and a selfie, and a person at Crewside reviews them. Until that review passes you cannot see a single room.

By registering, you are telling us that:

  • you are currently working airline crew
  • the name and airline you enter are your own and are accurate
  • the work ID you upload is yours
  • you are setting up one account, for yourself
  • you are old enough to enter into an agreement where you live, and in any case at least 16

Verification lasts twelve months. After that your account stops being verified and you verify again. If you change the airline on your profile, verification resets, because what we checked no longer matches what you are claiming.

What we check, and what we do not

This part matters more than the rest, so we would rather say it plainly than bury it. We check that a person is crew. We do not run background checks, we do not vouch for anyone's character, and we do not supervise what happens after two people agree to meet. Whether to meet someone, where, and when, is entirely your own judgement, exactly as it would be with a colleague you met in a crew room. Use the same care you would use anywhere else.

How to behave in a room

It comes down to four words: a crew lounge, be kind. In longer form, and these are the rules we will act on:

  • no harassment, no abuse, no threats, and no sexual advances toward anyone
  • no hate speech and no slurs
  • nothing sexual, nothing violent, nothing illegal, and nothing that would be a problem on a crew bus
  • no using the rooms to sell things, to recruit, to promote yourself, or to run a business
  • do not pretend to be someone else, do not share another member's details outside the room, and do not screenshot a room to put it somewhere public
  • do not use Crewside to break your own airline's rules, and remember that other members are colleagues with jobs to protect

When the city chats open, messages will pass through an automatic filter, so some content will be blocked before it is ever delivered. The filter is a floor, not the rule: something can clear the filter and still break the rules above.

Reporting, blocking, and what we can do

From the moment the city chats are open to you, you will be able to report a message or a member from inside the app, and to block someone. A report reaches a person at Crewside, who decides what happens and records the decision. Until then, write to support@crewsideapp.com; a person reads that address.

If you break these rules we can remove content, suspend your account for a period, or end your access entirely. A suspended account cannot use the app while the suspension runs. We will act on the seriousness of what happened, and safety comes before anyone's convenience, including ours.

Rooms, layovers, and availability

A city room exists for a city and a set of dates. It opens shortly before the layover window and closes once the window has passed. Rooms are meant to be temporary, and that is deliberate.

Crewside is free. If that ever changes we will say so plainly and in advance, before it does. We are still building, so the app can be interrupted or changed while we work on it, and we cannot promise it will be available at any given moment.

Leaving

You can delete your account yourself, from Settings in the app, at any time and without giving a reason. What that removes is described on the Privacy page.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Crewside develops. When we do, we will tell you rather than swapping the page quietly. If you do not agree with a change, you can delete your account.

Getting in touch

support@crewsideapp.com reaches a person. Use it for anything: a question about these terms, a problem in a room, or a request about your data.
